🎭October Member Spotlight: Wendy Lake
If there’s a job to be done at Center Stage Jackson, chances are Wendy Lake has done it.
She’s truly “a little of everything”: a former board member (8 years), stage manager for multiple youth shows and one main stage production, a performer (one show under her belt), and – since January – our Administrative Assistant. In that role, Wendy’s momentum shows up everywhere. She troubleshoots programs, manages the website and social media, schedules our emails and newsletters, and is the person we can count on any time – often stepping beyond her job description because she’s so knowledgeable. As a board and as an organization, we’re deeply grateful for her steady presence and behind-the-scenes expertise.
Onstage and backstage memories? Wendy still lights up about her first time stage managing for 96 Kids. Performing, she loved playing Ruth in Women of a Certain Age – her first role – where she learned so much and had that wonderful realization: “I CAN DO THIS!” She cherishes the camaraderie of the cast and how much she grew through the experience.
Hidden talent? Wendy jokes she’s either the life of the party or asleep – nothing in between! Looking ahead, she’d love to dive into another small-cast play (TBD).
At the heart of it all, why community theatre? In her words: “You connect with people on levels you never thought you could or would – you become family.”
Thank you, Wendy, for being such a vital part of the CSJ family.
