June 2026 Newsletter

A Note from the Editor:

Well, this wasn’t the newsletter I expected to be writing for June…

Like many of you, I was looking forward to Disaster! The Musical this summer. Unfortunately, we simply didn’t have enough participation to cast the show.

The good news is that there are still exciting things ahead for Center Stage Jackson. Tickets for The Guys will be on sale soon, preparations for The Wizard of Oz are beginning, and we’re already looking ahead to a busy fall season!

Thank you for continuing to support local theatre. Every ticket purchased, volunteer hour given, sponsorship secured, and conversation shared helps keep community theatre alive in Jackson.

See you at the theatre,

Jaime Lawrence
Board Secretary and Newsletter Editor, Center Stage Jackson

Coming This September: The Guys

Tickets will be on sale soon for The Guys, a powerful and moving play commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Based on a true story, The Guys honors the courage, sacrifice, and humanity of the first responders who answered the call on one of our nation’s darkest days. We are excited to see Kary Swiontek and Doug Hutt bring this performance to life!

This special production will also support local first responders here in Jackson County. Proceeds will benefit the Jackson County Fire Chiefs Association, Police Week Michigan, and Jackson Community Ambulance.

Join us this September as we remember, honor, and give back.

Performance Dates: September 10–13, 2026

Tickets on sale soon.

Looking Ahead:

The Wizard of Oz

We’re already preparing for our fall production of The Wizard of Oz, coming to the Potter Center October 2-4 and 9-11.

The production will be directed by Robert Reid and produced by Talon Baldwin.

Interested in being part of the show? Audition dates will be July 16-18 & 22-23 with call backs after that. Keep an eye on our website, emails, and social media channels for details.

There’s no place like home – and we can’t wait to bring Oz to the stage this fall!

Member Spotlight: Tiffany Layman

If you’ve been involved with Center Stage Jackson in recent years, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Tiffany Layman.

As a board member, actor, music coordinator, pit director, and producer, Tiffany has worn a lot of hats at CSJ. One of her favorite theatre memories comes from The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 2025, a production she describes as demanding, unforgettable, and filled with friendships old and new.

Support Local Theatre This Summer

While CSJ takes a brief pause between productions, there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy live theatre in our region.

Be sure to check out Annie from Concord Area Players this summer and consider visiting our friends at the Sauk and Croswell theatres for upcoming performances.

One of the best ways to support community theatre is simply to attend a show.

We’ll see you back at the theatre soon!
